One Of These Things Doesn't Belong Here

Doodlebug and I were going through a workbook featuring many pages of illustrations this evening.  In some of the illustrations you circled matching stuff, in some you circled things that did or didn't belong and in some you found things within the picture that were cleverly hidden.

One drawing was an outdoor setting, with a young lady swinging in a tire swing.  The object was to circle things that didn't belong in the setting.

So I was going over the page with the child, vocalizing the things she was circling.  It went a little something like this.

Correct!  One of those flowers is a lightbulb, that doesn't belong.  Right!  The rope holding the swing is a snake, that might not belong.  Uh-huh, forks don't belong in the grass.  Yep, couches don't belong outside.

At that moment The Lady looks over and says, "Success!  We live in Kentucky, and she knows a couch doesn't belong in the yard."

Good thing she gets the smarts from her mom.

Two For Thursday

Doodlebug has her five year old check up with the pediatrician in the morning and a dentist check up after school.  What a fun Thursday.

Not really.

Cue The Music

For friends and family from far away, I give you performances from Doodlebug's preschool graduation class.

If you don't know our daughter (third from the right in the front row), you could probably care less.

First, there's this musical nugget, followed by this yummy treat and finally, an old Louisiana standard that I was completely surprised by.

The event was held at a local church right down the road from school and as a proud goofball dad, I thought it was completely adorable.

Question The Answers

Doodlebug is about to put her dad in the crazy house.

Every answer is questioned nowadays and people, it's driving me loco

Here is a conversation we have about lunch on any given day.  You can take this conversation and apply it to anything else that might go on throughout the day, such as a craft, folding laundry, ,playing in her room, cleaning up the basement, or cooking dinner.

Me ~ Finish your lunch please.

Doodlebug ~ How many more bites?

Me ~ Four...eat it all up.

Doodlebug ~ What does four look like?  as she starts counting to four on her fingers, then shows me

Me ~ Right!  See you got it, now take four more bites.

Doodlebug ~ Do you think I will finish it all in four bites?

Me ~ Sure you can.  Now quiet down and finish up, so we can get on with the day.

Doodlebug ~ How do you know?

Me ~ Because I'm a smart guy.

Doodlebug ~ How did you get so smart?  yet to take another bite of her lunch

Me ~ Because I went to school like you.  Now finish your lunch.

Doodlebug ~ Was Ms. Marsha your teacher?

So you see what I mean!?  It's adorable the first time of the day, but all day long is another story.

If there is one positive about this making me want to jump in the car and drive far away communication, it is The Little Man is talking a lot better than what we would have hoped for at this point in his young life, with being premature and all.  For goodness sake, he better get with it or he'll never get in a word edge wise.

All this talking, all day long, is why I stay up so late and love my silence in the night.

Look, Pictures!
